ADL (the Anti-Defamation League) is a leading anti-hate organization. Founded in 1913 in response to an escalating climate of antisemitism and bigotry, its timeless mission is to protect the Jewish people and to secure justice and fair treatment for all. Today, ADL continues to fight all forms of hate with the same vigor and passion, and ADL is always the first call when acts of antisemitism occur. A global leader in exposing extremism, delivering anti-bias education and fighting hate online, ADL’s ultimate vision is a world in which no group or individual suffers from bias, discrimination or intolerance.
ADL’s Southeast Regional Office (ADL Southeast), based in Atlanta, serves Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee. This regional office provides extensive anti-bias programming for schools, workplaces, and communal organizations, hate crimes training for law enforcement, advocates for local social justice initiatives, and responds to incidents throughout the region. Most recently, through the Hate Free Georgia Coalition, led by ADL, both chambers of Georgia’s legislature, with strong bipartisan support, passed hate crimes legislation – HB 426 – and two days later, Governor Kemp signed it into law. ADL is committed to passing hate crimes legislation in the other four states, including South Carolina, that don’t currently have a bill in place.
